Located in Hillcrest on University Avenue, The Buffalo Public House, the eclectic creation of Henrique and Norah Gomes, offers a fusion of soulful American and Brazilian cuisine and hand selected craft beer and wine. The name ‘The Buffalo’ gives homage to the organic buffalo mozzarella farm Henrique operated in Brazil. Henrique and Norah believe their collective Brazilian/American heritage and ability to infuse their respective cultures, customs and favorite cuisines creates a truly unique experience for patrons of the public house.
In addition to organic burgers, steaks, fresh baked flatbread pizzas and salads, the menu also features Brazilian dishes like pastels (a flaky pastry appetizer with savory fillings), feijoada (a traditional hearty black bean stew dish with pork belly and smoked sausage), shrimp moqueca (shrimp poached in coconut milk with tomato, peppers and cilantro), and fresh Brazilian and American desserts. We use locally grown produce, organic beef, free range chicken and eggs, and feature other sustainably-raised menu-options like bison burgers and wild caught seafood.
From its exposed industrial elements to its reclaimed wooden interiors and rustic brick walls, this gastropub is a place with a good local crowd where you can meet friends to catch-up or watch the game, or enjoy the informal vibe and Brazilian-infused dishes on a date.
